Services
My goals as a Postpartum Doula are: to provide Mom with support, so that she can heal physically and develop emotionally into her new role as mother; and to progressively guide family members to provide that same support. I hope to help families understand the importance of their role in supplying the love, support, and stimulation that is necessary for their baby to become a physically and emotionally whole person.
With the understanding that each family is unique, some of the tasks I assist with are:
- Breastfeeding education and guidance;
- Techniques for: soothing, swaddling, bathing, nail clipping, cord care, diaper changing, outings, car seats, strollers, slings, etc.;
- Information on what to expect during those first few weeks for family and baby;
- Meals and snack plans during the day/night;
- Efficient storage of breast milk, and/or formula bottles;
- Organizing home for new baby;
- Sibling entertainment;
- Laundry and light tidying; and
- Errands and assistance with pediatric visits and outings.
“In the end I hope to ensure that all of my clients and their families are well prepared for family life without a doula. Through example, education and nurturing I provide information and skills necessary to manage without me. Although it is nice to feel needed, if I have done my job right, I can leave my clients fully assured that they no longer need my help.”
